Jewelry show at local hospital

The CHI Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary will host a jewelry show in the lobby of CHI Health Schuyler from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Proceeds go toward equipment purchases for the hospital.

Loup holiday cookbooks out

Loup Public Power District’s complimentary holiday cookbooks are now available to customers.

The cookbook features favorite recipes submitted by Loup Public Power employees, retirees, board members and spouses.

The cookbook is available at Loup offices in Albion, Clarkson, Columbus, Fullerton, Genoa, Humphrey, Newman Grove and St. Edward. Cookbooks are also available at the city offices in Howells and Leigh, Cooperative Supply in Richland and Schuyler Department of Utilities.

Holiday fair at local church

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 821 Denver St., in Schuyler is holding its annual holiday fair on Dec. 3.

The events include an all-you-can-eat soup supper from 4-7 p.m. serving chili and chicken noodle soup, horn rolls, relish and dessert, shoppers mall with 19 vendors from 3-7 p.m., bake sale including jars of soup for sale from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., drawing and silent auction.

Coat Closet needs donations

The Schuyler Ministerial Association is again collecting winter clothing for people in need.

New and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves are being received at collection boxes in area churches through Dec. 15.

The Coat Closet will be hosted again this year by La Iglesia Principe de Paz and Christ United Methodist Church at 1922 Colfax St. in Schuyler. It’s open to anyone in need of warm clothing, as long as donations last, through Jan. 31. Hours are 9-11 a.m. Mondays, 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays and 1-3 p.m. Fridays.

Christmas events at St. Benedict

St. Benedict Center will host a Christmas craft show from Sunday to Dec. 10.

Hours are 2 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A large variety of crafts and gifts made by area artists will be on sale. The book and gift store will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays.

The Teens of Divine Mercy Parish will present a play for the whole family in several acts related to the Christmas message. Two indoor shows will be performed at 5 and 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Benedict Center. There will be hot chocolate, cider, coffee and homemade Christmas cookies following each show. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children.

The public is invited to St. Benedict Center to view Nativity scenes from around the world, including the Holy Land, Africa, Asia, South America, North America and Europe. The Nativity display will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 17 and Jan. 2–5. There is no admission fee.
