A David City woman was injured Wednesday when she failed to stop in time to avoid colliding with a tractor on Nebraska 15/64 west of Octavia.
According to the Butler County Sheriff's Office report, Kevin Brichacek, 48, of rural Linwood was driving a 1974 Allis Chalmers 7030 eastbound on the highway about 6:40 p.m. when a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier approached the tractor from behind.
Brichacek reported that he was driving about 20 mph and had turned on the flashing lights and a white light on the rear of the tractor cab when he saw the car and realized that it was going too fast to stop.
The crash occurred about two miles east of the intersection where Nebraska 15 merges with Nebraska 64.
Jenny Wagner, Schuyler Central High School volleyball coach and the driver of the car, told investigators that she saw a only a white light, similar to a headlight, on the back of the tractor, but she couldn't stop before hitting the tractor.
Wagner, who will turn 26 on March 9, was transported to the Butler County County Health Care Center with injuries.
