• Lana Bell of Richland attended the preschool Christmas program at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus on Dec. 14 in the evening. Her grandson Blake Bell, son of Adam and Stephanie Bell, was in the program.

• Dean and Lana Bell of Richland attended the Christmas program presented the morning of Dec. 17 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. Their grandsons Blake and Akryn Bell are Sunday school students and were in the program. The boys are the sons of Adam and Stephanie Bell of Richland.

• Nathan Stevenson, a student at UNK, came home on Dec. 15 to spend the holiday vacation at the home of his parents Dan and Suzanne Stevenson of Columbus.

• Mary and Abby Walker of Bennington and Chelsea Kasik of Columbus were Dec. 13 visitors of Marilyn Kasik of Richland.

• Kathy Leimser of Richland went to Omaha on Dec. 16 to meet Pam Wachal and Dawn Heese, both of Omaha. The three of them then went to the Junk Fest in Waterloo.

• Jerel and Carol Engel of Richland attended the Industrial Engineer Company Christmas party at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Wunderlich’s Catering in Columbus.

• Russ and Linda Forney of Richland attended the Christmas program on the evening of Dec. 12 at Central Community College. The program was given by the St. Isidore students. Their granddaughter Lola Doerneman participated in the program.

• Russ and Linda Forney of Richland attended the Christmas program on the evening of Dec. 14 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. Their grandson Domonic Fischer, who attends preschool, was in the program.

• Charlene Klug of Columbus attended the Dec. 17 morning church services at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. During the services the Sunday school students presented their Christmas program.

• Charlene Klug attended the Pin Club Christmas party on the evening of Dec. 12 at the American Legion in Columbus. Following the meal, singers from Bible Baptist Church provided entertainment.

• The Richland Attendance Center had its Christmas program the evening of Dec. 18 in the school gym. Director of the program was Karen Tschida. The program began with all the students singing “Celebrate with Joy” followed by the K-2 students singing “Christmas Jubilation," “Nice, Nice, Christmas" and “Polar Puppy.” Grades 3-4 then sang “We All Celebrate,” “For the Winter” and “Don’t Eat a Poinsettia.” Last, grades 5-6 sang “We Sing Gloria,” “I Wish” and “Snow Day.” The program closed with the students and audience singing “Jingle Bells.” Punch and cookies were served to all those in attendance.

• Members of the Golden Keys Club met at noon Dec. 14 and had dinner at Prairie Village Retirement Home in Columbus. Following the meal they went to the sun room. Each member made a donation to the Orphan Grain Train, which is the club’s goal. Shirley Gersib and Florence Stevenson were on the game committee and card bingo was played with prizes awarded to the winners. The club will meet Jan. 11 at Prairie Village and there will be a speaker for the program. Others present were Phyllis Hassebrook, Marcella Schmid, Ruth Rickert, Millie Wennekamp and Evelyn Wilke.

• Members of the Lamplighters Club met at noon Dec. 14 and had dinner at the Picket Fence in Columbus. Joan Siefken and Lois Rodehorst were the hosts. Following the meal Mexican train dominoes was played for entertainment. Charlene won high prize and Arlene Wilke received low prize. Others present were Carylyn Runge, Wilma Loseek and Ruth Bakenhus.

• Members of the Queens Card Club met at noon Dec. 18 and had dinner at the Columbus Community Center with Millie Wennekamp as the hostess. Following the meal, sheephead was played with Lou Ann Everett and Marlene Koopman tied for high and Elaine Hake was low. Others present were Betty Hitz, Dorothy Struebing, Marilyn Lusche and Florence Stevenson. Lou Ann Everett will host the club in January.
