UNL students earn degrees
LINCOLN — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred 1,505 degrees during commencement exercises Dec. 15 and 16.
Among the graduates are:
Rogers: Emily Brichacek, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Bachelor of Science degree in applied science.
Schuyler: Brent Aaron Koliha, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Bachelor of Science degree in agribusiness; and Will James Martin, College of Engineering, Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
Chadron State honors students
CHADRON — Chadron State College recently announced the dean’s and president’s lists for the fall semester.
Ethan Bergt of Schuyler was named to the dean’s list by earning at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Kolton Held of Leigh was named to the president’s list by earning a cumulative 4.0 GPA.
Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of coursework during the semester to qualify for either honor.
FCCLA chapter in holiday spirit
The Howells-Dodge FCCLA chapter was involved in several service projects during the month of December.
Members hosted a food drive competition from Dec. 1-18 for the high school classes at Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools. The senior class brought in the most items and enjoyed an ice cream sundae party on Dec. 21. All of the food collected was given to families in need in the community.
FCCLA members also answered letters written to Santa by more than 125 children in the community. Each letter to the children included a personalized message and candy bar.
On Dec. 16, FCCLA members hosted a free day of babysitting for families in the community at Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools. Members provided games and activities for the children and served snacks and lunch.
During the week of Dec. 18, FCCLA members mailed 80 Christmas cards to their adopted grandparents in the area.
