SCHUYLER — Lillian Saalfeld, 90, of Schuyler, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. The Revs. Jerry Gonderinger and Gerry Leise Con will be the celebrants. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler. Lunch will be in the St. Mary's Social Center following the committal in Schuyler Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Lillian was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Clarkson, the youngest of four daughters to Frank and Mary (Abraham) Dworak. She graduated from Clarkson High School in 1941. On April 17, 1952, she married Adolph Saalfeld. To that union, eight children were born. They lived their life in Schuyler and Lillian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and lifelong blood donor. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, gambling and spending time with family and friends.
Lillian is survived by seven children, Gwen (Bill) Wonch of Stapleton, Frank Saalfeld of Sidney, Montana, Don Saalfeld of David City, Joyce (Larry) Guenther of Columbus, Theresa (Robin) Roth of Valentine, Jeff (Yvonne) Saalfeld of Omaha and Paula (Gene) Brichacek of Schuyler; one sister, Ann Longacre of Fremont; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph; infant son, John Peter; grandchildren, Joshua Goebel, Brittany Brichacek and Jason Saalfeld; and two sisters, Mary Ladwig and Helen Hawkins.
Kracl Funeral Chapel of Schuyler is in charge of these arrangements.
