SALINA, Kan. — Tom Cummings, of Salina, Kansas, formerly of Schuyler, died at his home on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Tom was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Columbus to Robert E. and Tillie (Brdicko) Cummings. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1965 and served four years in the United States Air Force with two tours in Viet Nam. Upon returning home, he married Lynda Lacson in Schuyler. Tom was manager of Dufek’s Jack and Jill and then moved to Abilene, Kansas, where he and his brother Bob owned a Jack and Jill Store. After retiring from the grocery business, Tom was regional sales manager for the Sather Cookie Company. In order to have more time at home, he developed a career in nursing home management. Tom loved the game of golf and played his last round two weeks before he died.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Corina Jo Cummings and Misty Fay Russell; mother-in-law, Lucy Lacson of Salina; granddaughter, JoAnn Riggs; and four brothers, Bob and Judy of Schuyler, Dave (Ravonna) and Ron (Sue) of Norfolk and Jim (Kathy) of Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynda; brother, Arthur Cummings; and nephew, Jeff Cummings.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7, 2017, with military burial in Salina, Kansas.
