The Schuyler Central High School activities department presented its awards for the fall sports seasons Nov. 6 in the east gymnasium.
Activities Director Jim Kasik introduced the coaches, who then presented letters and awards to their student-athletes.
Volleyball coach Jenna Saalfeld presented the following awards: Offensive Player of the Year, Rachel Shonka; Defensive Player of the Year, Maria Semerad; and Most Improved Player, Anna Rocheford. Receiving varsity letters were Kameryn Healy, Lauren Kasik, Haylee Korth, Shonka, Semerad, Reagan Folda, Kinzie Petersen and Rocheford.
Football coach Aaron Thumann presented the following awards: Myers-Reinecke-Shonka Offensive Player of the Year, Jesus Maganda, who was also named Special Teams Player of the Year; Defensive Player of the Year, Caleb Novak; Most Improved Player, Kevin Contreras; Scout Team Player of the Year, Travis Marxsen; “Rower of the Year,” Tychique Kutalu. Receiving varsity letters were Ernesto Chacon, Contreras, Rosel Diaz, Cesar Domingo, Mario Encarnacion, Adrian Francisco, Nolan Healy, Isaac Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Daniel Jerez, Tyler Kohl, Mason Kovar, Kutalu, Jaime Lira, Olvin Lopez, Maganda, Marxsen, Novak, Emmanuel Rocha, Kevin Rodriguez, Angel Rojo, Elmer Salazar, Jackson Settles, Axel Soto, Caden Yrkoski, Austin Zacarias and Adrian Zamudio.
Girls golf coach Jeff Droge presented the following award: Myers-Reinecke-Shonka Outstanding Girls Golfer, Claire Martin, who also received a varsity letter along with teammates Ivana Lopez, Jennifer Lopez and Maria Vega.
Softball coach Clarissa Dunn presented the following awards: Best All-Around Player, Jaiden Sock; Most Improved Offensive Player, Jakelin Mejia; and Most Improved Offensive Player, Carla Chacon. Receiving varsity letters were Kaylie Bachmann, Bethany Black, Chacon, Leslie DeArcos, Nicollette Harding, Jaiden Inselman, Carly Johnson, Esmerelda Lara, Mejia, Britney Nevarez, Sock, Mia Wallingford and Alexis Wilch.
Cross country coaches Rick Carter and Lauren Burkey presented the following awards: Myers-Reinecke-Shonka Outstanding Boys Cross Country Runner, Nesrudin Yusuf; Myers-Reinecke-Shonka Oustanding Girls Cross Country Runner, Edith Oliden; Most Improved Runner, Cristobal Gonzalez; Rookies of the Year, Hugo Ramon and Miguel Carrasco. Earning varsity letters were Kasey Brabec, Carrasco, Kenneth Castro, Gonzalez, Abner Perez, Ramon, Naun Serrano, Yusuf, Danilo Ramirez, Oliden and Yessica Rodriguez.
