COLUMBUS — Third-ranked Central Community College had no trouble defeating McCook Community College on Wednesday night at Raider Fieldhouse.
Maeghan Pieper led the Raider attack in the 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 sweep. Pieper, a Scotus Central Catholic graduate, finished with 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage.
“I thought we executed well tonight and it was one of our better performances on our home court,” CCC head coach Mary Young said. “Our offense was patient and we took control of the pace of the match.”
The Raiders breezed through the first set without making a hitting error, and it didn’t get much tougher from there.
“As a unit, I thought we played well and kept McCook on defense and forced a lot of their errors,” Young said.
With the Raiders in control the whole match, Young was able to experiment with some different lineups.
Amber Anderson added nine kills for Central and Jacie Laetsch had seven kills and a team-high 15 digs. Paxton Throne dished out 30 assists to go with four kills.
Central (15-1) heads to Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Friday for a triangular with Cloud County Community College and Iowa Western Community College.
