DAVID CITY — The David City boys blasted Superior 67-36 on Monday in the opening round of the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament.
Will Danielson led the Scouts (8-9) with 20 points and Luis Salazar added 18 as 10 different David City players scored in the game.
The 67 points are a season high for David City, topping the 66 scored in Saturday’s win over Thayer Central.
After a close first quarter, the Scouts pulled away. A 16-12 game after the opening period, David City opened a 38-20 lead by halftime. The lead grew to 53-26 after the third quarter.
The conference tournament continues through Saturday.

Twin River 29
WEST POINT — West Point-Beemer shut down the Twin River girls in overtime Monday to escape with a 33-29 victory in a East Husker Conference Tournament game.
The Cadets (15-5) outscored the Titans (13-6) 4-0 in the extra period to get the win.
Twin River had a solid offensive showing in the first half, leading 10-7 after the first quarter and 19-16 at halftime. But the Titans got bogged down in the second half, only scoring 10 points the rest of the way. Twin River still led by three going into the fourth quarter before WP-B was able to rally and tie the game at 29-all.
Gabi Wieck finished with nearly 60 percent of Twin River’s points, scoring a game-high 17 on 7-for-10 shooting. The Titans did themselves no favors at the free-throw line, going just 4 for 14. The Cadets, who were just 6 for 23 from the field, went 12 of 18 at the free-throw line.
The tournament continues through Saturday.
