No. 10 North Bend Central held off Aquinas 59-57 on Thursday in a C1-7 boys basketball subdistrict final at Columbus.
Both teams got hot from beyond the arc, as Aquinas hit eight three-pointers and the Tigers hit 10. Peter Emmanuel had 24 points for North Bend Central, including four three-pointers, while Tyler Vavrina also had 24 points, including eight three-pointers.
C2-7 at Aquinas: No. 6 Centennial hit 11 three-pointers to roll past Nebraska Christian 65-33. Cooper Gierhan scored 21 points and Jackson Hirschfeld had 16 points.
D1-2 at Sandy Creek: No. 8 BDS outlasted No. 6 Deshler 47-46 in overtime behind 22 points from Caden Norder. Norder hit a three-pointer with 4 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime, then hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 9 seconds left in overtime to give BDS its first lead of the game, which proved to be the difference-maker. Grant Hansen had 22 points to lead Deshler.
D1-8 at Centennial: No. 4 Heartland took down Nebraska Lutheran 55-36 in a hard-fought game. Lane Huebert led the Huskies with 28 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Connor Boehr contributed nine points and 11 rebounds. Jaden Regier scored 14 points and knocked down four of Heartland's seven made three-point baskets. Hayes Oswald also came up big with 10 total rebounds in the win for Heartland.
D2-2 at Malcolm: Defense ruled, as No. 5 Mead outscored No. 3 Exeter-Milligan 11-5 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 27-26 win. Josh Quinn scored 16 points to lead Mead while Patrick Murphy had nine points on three three-pointers for Exeter-Milligan.
