CLARKS — Shelby-Rising City had lost four consecutive games to teams with a combined 19-6 record going into Tuesday’s road matchup with High Plains.
The Huskies took out their frustrations, blasting the Storm 64-19.
Bailey Belt was one of four S-RC players in double figures with a game-high 17 points. Austin Coffin and Jett Pinneo both scored 14 points and Max Hoatson added 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Huskies shot 59 percent (31 for 52) from the field, including nearly 70 percent (30 for 44) from inside the 3-point line.
High Plains, which turned the ball over 19 times, was led by Keaton Van Housen’s seven points.
Those 19 turnovers led to 24 points for the Huskies, who only turned the ball over twice and didn’t allow a point on them.
S-RC (2-4) hosts its holiday tournament beginning Dec. 28 while High Plains (0-6) hosts St. Edward on Thursday.
St. Francis 62,
Neb. Christian 42
HUMPHREY — Humphrey St. Francis bounced back from two consecutive losses and three losses in four games to beat Nebraska Christian 62-42 at home Tuesday.
The Flyers (4-3), ranked eighth in Class D-2, pulled away in the fourth quarter to get back in the win column.
Trevor Pfeifer scored a game-high 16 points to pace St. Francis while Riley Jarosz added 15 and Pierce Eisenmenger chipped in 14.
The Flyers were rolling in the first quarter, going up 24-10 before getting bogged down in the second period. The Eagles got the deficit down to two possessions, trailing 29-24 at halftime.
St. Francis maintained that edge in the third quarter before outscoring Nebraska Christian 19-6 over the final eight minutes to pull away.
The Flyers play in the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament beginning Dec. 28.
YUTAN — Class C-2, No. 5 Yutan scored 44 first-half points Tuesday and rolled to a 72-26 home win over Clarkson/Leigh.
The Chieftains scored 22 points in each of the first two quarters and led 44-18 at the break. Yutan surrendered only eight points in the second half.
Anthony Bruhn scored a team-high 10 points for the Patriots (0-8), who play in the Shelby Holiday Tournament beginning Dec. 28.
St. Edward 50,
ST. EDWARD — St. Edward beat up on a winless Elba team Tuesday night to get its first victory of the season.
The Beavers (1-5) allowed only two Elba players to score — Gage Oeltjen with 20 points and Brody Buckendahl with nine — in the 50-29 home win.
Trevor Rasmussen poured in 18 points for St. Edward, which led 26-19 at halftime and 42-22 after three quarters. Jeremy Osantowski added 14 points and Tanner Trube scored 12.
St. Edward plays Thursday at High Plains.
SCHUYLER — Schuyler couldn’t slow down Blair’s offense Monday in a 73-51 home loss.
The Bears outscored the Warriors 45-22 over the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach after Schuyler led 17-12 in the first period.
Auston Hall scored 16 points for Schuyler and Mason Kovar and Jakub Langemeier added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Warriors (2-3) have a big test Thursday, going to York to play the second-ranked Dukes.
