LEXINGTON — It was a long day Saturday for the Columbus High boys tennis team at the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference Tournament in Lexington.

The Discoverers finished eighth with 12 points and won just three matches. Kearney took the tournament title with 46 points.

Columbus' Adam Kamrath beat Connor Muhr from Scottsbluff 8-1 in pool play to advance to the fifth-place match at No. 1 singles where he lost 8-1 to Hastings’ Ben Howie. Kamrath, who also lost matches to Norfolk’s Parker Hansen and North Platte’s Avery Munson in pool play, earned half of the team’s points by finishing sixth.

Coden Prokopec at No. 2 singles and Colin Flyr and Trevor Luckey at No. 2 doubles both dropped all three matches in pool play for the Discoverers, but ended their days with wins in the seventh-place matches.

Prokopec beat Scottsbluff’s Noah Hafner 8-6 while Flyr and Luckey downed Coley Lacy and Adynn Kusek from Hastings by the same score.

Grant Stadler and Alex Uhlig lost all four of their matches at the tournament.

Columbus hosts Norfolk on Thursday for a dual.
