Columbus High School’s wrestling team captured two silver medals Saturday at the finals of the NSAA Wrestling Championships at the Century Link Center in Omaha.
The team finished sixth with 108.5 points. Lincoln East captured the Class A crown with 187 points. Runners-up Kearney scored 163, and were followed by Omaha Burke, 131.5, Gretna 126, and Millard South, 124.
Carson Zwingman (47-10) took second at 170 pounds. He lost a 10-5 decision to Isaiah Alford (44-0) of Lincoln High.
A junior, Alford made an impressive jump from finishing sixth at state last year to state champion.
Anthony Deanda (42-11) placed second at 195 pounds, falling in a major decision to Dillyn Miller (46-1) of Omaha Burke in the finals.
Kasten Grape (50-7) placed third at 182 pounds. He pinned Trajen Linear (45-9) Papillion-LaVista South in the third place match.
At 106 pounds Clay Cerny (44-11) placed fifth, getting a 17-1 technical fall over Jaylan Ruffin (29-23) of North Platte.
Carter Kucera (49-5) placed fifth at 126 pounds. He won a 5-4 decision against Peyton Meink (24-10) of Millard North.
At 220 pounds, Eddie Loredo (37-24) placed sixth, falling in a 3-2 decision to Garett Rollag (31-7) of Creighton Prep.
