GENOA — Emilee Spitz threw a no-hitter Thursday against David City/East Butler.

Spitz pitched seven innings, striking out three batters in the 4-0 win, and got enough timely hitting late in the game from her offense.

A scoreless game through four innings, the Titans pushed a run across in the fifth for a 1-0 lead. Turns out, that’s all the offense Spitz needed, but the Titans added another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh for insurance.

Twin River (18-11) plays in a triangular Monday in Albion with Boone Central/Newman Grove and Madison/Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

Aquinas 8,

Polk County 1

DAVID CITY — David City Aquinas won its sixth straight game Thursday, pounding Polk County 8-1.

After Polk County took a 1-0 in the top of the second, the Monarchs answered by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Aquinas, which didn’t submit stats for the game, scored in each of the next three innings to pull away.

Cassidy Rieken and Kylee Bockman both had a pair of hits for the Slammers (8-16), who play Grand Island Central Catholic in their regular-season finale on Monday.

Aquinas (14-10) plays Saturday in the Wahoo Neumann Tournament.
