OAKLAND — Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family swept a triangular Tuesday over Oakland-Craig and Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur, a pair of Class C-2 schools.

The Bulldogs breezed through Oakland-Craig in a 25-11, 25-12 victory, then pulled out a nail-biter over BR/LD winning both sets, and the match, 27-25.

Taya Beller was at it again for H/LHF with 28 kills and eight blocks in the event. Beller also had seven aces against Oakland-Craig.

The Bulldogs (5-2) play in a triangular Thursday hosted by Clarkson/Leigh. High Plains is the third school in the event.

St. Francis 3,

Fullerton 0

FULLERTON — Humphrey St. Francis turned a close first set into a blowout the rest of the match Tuesday.

The Flyers surrendered more points in the first set than the final two combined in a 27-25, 25-7, 25-11 sweep of the Warriors.

Caitlin Jarosz and Logan Wemhoff had nine kills each to lead St. Francis (7-2), which hasn’t lost to a D-2 school this season.

The Flyers don’t play again until Sept. 21 when they take on Bloomfield on the road.

Heartland triangular

GRAND ISLAND — Cross County split a triangular Tuesday, beating Heartland Lutheran 25-12, 25-22 and losing to McCool Junction 25-20, 18-25, 16-14.

Cortlyn Schaefer had six kills in each match to lead the Cougars. Schaefer also had three aces against McCool Junction. Alexis Eller added nine total kills.

Cross County (2-3) heads to Henderson on Thursday to play Heartland High.

Hampton 3,

Shelby-Rising City 2

HAMPTON — Shelby-Rising City came within a few points of getting its first win of the season Tuesday.

After losing the first two sets 25-16, 25-22 to Hampton, the Huskies rallied to win the next two 25-22, 25-22 before falling 15-9 in the deciding set.

Sydnie Adams had 13 kills and 18 total blocks in trying to will S-RC to a win.

The Huskies (0-6) head to Centennial on Thursday for a triangular with the Broncos and Sutton.

Palmer triangular

PALMER — High Plains lost both matches of a triangular on Tuesday.

The Storm lost in straight sets to Riverside (25-10, 25-15) and Palmer (25-17, 25-13). 

Brooke Bannister and Cara Demers had five kills each between the two matches to lead High Plains.

The Storm (4-5) play in a triangular Thursday with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family hosted by Clarkson/Leigh.
