The biggest recruiting weekend of the year hasn't even started officially for Nebraska, but the Huskers have already picked up a verbal commitment.
David Alston, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound outside linebacker from Woodbury, Minnesota, announced his pledge Friday morning on Twitter.
Rivals lists Alston as the top 2018 player in Minnesota, while 247Sports/Scout lists him at No. 6.
Alston, a consensus three-star prospect, is NU's first football commitment since St. Louis wide receiver Cameron Brown re-committed two months ago.
Alston is the 11th member of the Huskers' 2018 recruiting class, which is expected to eventually number about 18. The Huskers first offered him in April and he was on campus for the Sept. 16 loss to Northern Illinois.
Alston has played both standing up as a rush end or outside linebacker and from a down stance in Woodbury's defense this season.
