It’s been one quiet week for fishing. No big fish this week.

All that I’ve seen are bluegill from hospital lake and catfish from Lake North.

I did go out fishing during the eclipse and the bass and bluegill were biting the whole time except during the full coverage. I was using 2-pound test and got broke off a few times.

I was using rubber worms and crawdads for bass, just dropping it straight down then “pop” when it hits the bottom. “Drop and pop” and night crawlers for the bluegill was slow, but I’ll go to a little heavier line next time. Probably not much more than 6-pound test though.

Don’t forget dove season starts Sept. 1. Daily bag limit is 15 and no more than 45 total in your possession. Grouse season also begins that day. East of U.S. Highway 81 there is a daily bag limit of three and possession limit also of three. West of the highway, hunters can have up to 12 grouse in their possession.
