Ronald Cyza, 77, of Columbus died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Columbus Community Hospital.Mass of Christian Burial is being held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pilzno, County Road 140, in rural Osceola. Visitation is being held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, 3921 20th St. A 7 p.m. vigil will follow at the church. Visitation continues from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Interment is being held at St. Mary's Cemetery-Pilzno in rural Osceola.Ronald John Cyza was born June 23, 1940 in Genoa, to Lonny and Julia (Czarnick) Cyza. He grew up near Columbus and Duncan. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus. Ron served in the United States Army Reserves from 1962-1968. He married Yvonne Wruble on Feb. 15, 1969 in Clarks. He was employed for eight years by Overland Sand & Gravel . In 1969, he formed Cyza Brothers Sand & Gravel with his brothers Vergel and Jerome. He spent 40 years hauling gravel and farming. He served on the Rural Duncan Fire Protection Board for 25 years and served as president the last 10 years. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church-Pilzno for 68 years. Ron is survived by his wife, Yvonne Cyza of Columbus, daughter Sandra (Michael) Burwell of David City, daughter Laura (Michael) Moravec of David City, daughter Mary Beth (Chad) Brady of Hornick, Iowa; son Rev. Mark Cyza of Nebraska City, daughter Christina (Matt) Podolak of Octavia, daughter Angela (Aaron) Lienemann of Lincoln, sister Evelyn (John) Prososki of Clarks, sister Maxine (Al) Becker of Columbus, sister-in-law Carol Cyza of Omaha, sister-in-law Bonnie Cyza of Columbus, brother-in-law Bill Konz of Columbus, 17 Grandchildren and five foster grandchildren.
