The Shelby-Rising City FFA chapter competed at the State FFA Convention April 4-6 in Lincoln.

Victoria Perry earned state runner-up and a gold medal in Jr. Public Speaking. Garrett Ingalls received a silver medal in Sr. Public Speaking. Garrett was also selected to perform in the Nebraska FFA Chorus.

The Jr. Livestock Judging Team was also state runner-up, earning a purple ribbon. Team members include Jayce Vrbka (fifth place individually, purple), Carson Rathje (eighth place individually, purple), Antonio Lopez (red ribbon), and Grant Lindsley.

S-RC Floriculture Team placed 10th, and received a blue ribbon. Members include Julia Augustin (14th individually, purple), Jaydon Pavel (19th individually, purple), Jayce Vrbka (blue), and Taylor Steager.

The Jr. Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team earned a bronze award. Members are Tanner Nekl, Jenna Logan, Angel Barnes, Aurora Slusarski, Alexa Carter, Wendy Godejohn, and Emily Willis.

The Farm and Agribusiness Management Team received a white ribbon. Carson Rathje and Clayton Watts earned blue and white ribbons, respectively. Other team members were Haley Hanak and Grant Lindsley.

Grant Lindsley, individual Champion in Jr. Horse Judging last spring, was recognized at State Convention. The team of Grant Lindsley, Curtis Micek, Garrett Ingalls, and Carson Rathje placed third Overall Junior Team.

Second Place Halter Team - Grant, second place, purple; Curtis, red

Second Place Performance Team - Grant first place, purple; Curtis, 7th place, blue.

First Place Reasons Team - Grant, third place, purple; Garrett 4th place, purple, Curtis, red.

The S-RC Chapter received second place in the "I Believe in the Future of Ag" campaign, and was one of 10 chapters to earn the Governor's Award of Excellence. S-RC FFA adviser is Whitney Lehn.
