The David City football team’s scoring woes continued in the Sept. 8 game against Milford-Dorchester. The Eagles handed the Scouts their third loss, 34-7.
After falling behind 13-0, David City found the end zone in the second quarter when Louis Salazar caught a 20 yard pass from Will Danielson.
The Scouts couldn’t contain the Eagles’ Mitch Wingard, who started the scoring with a 3 yard run in the first quarter. He added a pair of touchdowns, from 10 and 2 yards out, in the second quarter.
David City’s offense didn’t get untracked, while its offense was only able to slow and not stop Milford. The Eagles added a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters.
Wingard rushed 25 times for 187 yards. He also connected on one of his two passes, hitting Nate Mensik on a 45-yarder.
On the Scouts’ defensive side, Matt Eilers and Colin Vandenberg were often in the thick of things. Eilers recorded 16 tackles and Vandenberg, 13.
The Scouts face Wayne (3-0) on Friday. The Blue Devils defeated Artlington (1-2) on Sept. 8.
