The East Butler wrestling team brought home three medals in a 10th place finish at the Wahoo Invitational on Saturday.
Wahoo won the team competition with 141.5 points, followed by Waverly, 104.5. Lincoln Pius X and York tied at 97 for third.
“There was challenging competition here today seeing some quality class A and B teams,” said East Butler coach Doug Glasshoff. “We ended up with three medalists today, which walking out of this meet with a medal was an accomplishment. Quite a few good wrestlers did not medal.”
Finishing second was Riley Spatz at 145 pounds. He suffered his first loss of the year, a 5-1 decision to Scott Fulsos of York.
Colton Ratkovec, 160 pounds, was pinned by Chris Adams of Nebraska City before coming back for a third place finish with a major decision of Connor Weis of Omaha Gross and a pin of Grant Kolterman of Wahoo in 4:23.
Cody Heise placed fourth at 126 pounds, losing by fall in 4:34 to Jordan Thorson of Wahoo.
Brandon Rezac, 220 pounds, lost two matches, a 9-6 decision to Caleb Cast of Centennial and a major decision to Michael Cisneros of Pius, 8-0.
At 152 pounds, Dalton Bohac picked up two pins but lost a 4-2 decision to Isaac Feltes of Lincoln Pius X in the consolation semis.
The Tigers travel to Geneva Dec. 30 for the Fillmore Central Holiday Invite.
“We will use the week off to get in better shape and continue to improve on the mat,” Glasshoff said. “There will be some great competition there as well and we need to be ready for another tough meet.”
