Columbus Community Hospital, 4600 38th St.

Columbus Community Hospital was recently named in a list of 293 hospitals that were given five stars for overall hospital quality. CCH was one of just two Nebraska hospitals to receive the high rating.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. CMS’ Hospital Compare website reports on quality measures for more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Of those rated, 293 received five star ratings, 1,086 were given four stars, 1,264 were given three stars, 800 received two stars and 282 were rated at just one star.

The primary objective of the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating project is to summarize information from existing measures reported on Hospital Compare in a way that is useful and easy to interpret for patients and consumers, through the development of a statistically sound methodology.

The system looks at mortality rates, safety of care, readmission rates, overall patient experience, effectiveness of care and timeliness of care, among other criteria.

The full list of five star hospitals was originally published by Becker’s Hospital Review and can be viewed by visiting the following link:
