Butler County Health Care Center (BCHCC), a critical access hospital, recently chose Cerner, a global health platform and innovation company, to develop its new electronic health record (EHR) to better help the patient care experience and deliver improved outcomes.
The Cerner Millennium EHR provides physicians with an integrated digital record of a patient’s health history that empowers them to deliver smarter care. Through a new online portal, patients can securely message doctors, schedule appointments, view and settle balances and access their health history.
“Moving from an IT system that required several third-party solutions, to one integrated EHR platform has been a top priority for our health system,” said BCHCC CEO Don Naiberk, in a provided statement. “Based on Cerner’s strategic vision and track record for success, we are confident they will deliver the best technology to strengthen our ability to provide the best care for our community.”
BCHCC will leverage Cerner CommunityWorks, a cloud-based delivery model that is tailored to help community, critical access and specialty hospitals to securely share patient health history, including clinical and financial data, across multiple venues of care. CommunityWorks, which is built off years of industry and client recommended practices, scales Cerner’s traditional EHR platform aimed to help address the unique set of challenges faced by patients and care teams at these hospitals.
“BCHCC is an award-winning organization committed to pursuing their vision, focused on advancing the patient experience and improving health outcomes,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “We look forward to consolidating their use of third-party solutions by providing an EHR platform that advances their goals, by integrating technology across their venues of care, allowing the hospital to feel confident that they will enhance patient care and outcomes.”
BCHCC selected Cerner to transform the future of care it delivers to the more than 7,000 patients across the 20-bed critical access hospital it sees annually. Additionally, the hospital is also receiving Cerner revenue cycle solutions. These solutions help support the health system’s financial operations while connecting clinical and financial information for staff to view together in one patient record.
