Thanks to the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, Christmas is coming a little early.

The chamber’s annual Santa Stops has returned with even more businesses participating this year. Visitors to any of the 35 participating businesses in downtown David City can pick up a free sheet for the program. Those who present this form can receive a free gift or special offer from any participating locations through Dec. 20.

“It’s really just about promoting shopping local, and really benefiting our community as a whole," Chamber Executive Director Kelcie Keeling said.

Hruska Memorial Public Library is one of the organizations participating this year. Anyone presenting a Santa Stops form at the library will receive a free book. Children's Librarian Lucy Watts said the program in the past has encouraged people to visit the library for the first time.

“We had a lot of people we’ve never seen come in,” Watts said about people participating in the program. “Which is good to get them in there.”

On Dec. 21, the chamber is hosting a raffle. Forms can be dropped off at any participating location. The more businesses a person visits, the more tickets they’ll receive in the raffle.

Raffle prizes include an air-blown inflatable Twinkling Christmas Tree from Ace Hardware, a Yankee candle gift basket from David City Discount Pharmacy, a Party Platter from Subway, a Christmas centerpiece from Small Town Blooms by CK and a Sinclair gas card from Northside.
