Students from East Butler, David City, and Aquinas Catholic high schools participated in this year's Butler County Arts Council annual One Act Festival on Nov. 15.
The East Butler campus in Brainard hosted each of the three theatrical student productions.
David City performed a production titled “The Spirits of N’Orleans." The play was set in 1930s New Orleans, Louisiana, and involved Voodoo Spirits and the carnival celebration of Mardi Gras.
Aquinas performed “Sending Down the Sparrows," a historical fiction piece that revolves around a reluctant youth member and the persecution and extermination of the handicapped by Nazi Germany.
East Butler performed “The Struggles," a drama that follows a young girl and her challenges struggling with dyslexia and attention deficit disorder, personified in a dream-like world.
All admission fees from the event will go toward youth theaters and the One Act Grand Benefactors of the 2018/2019 season, according to a Butler County Arts Council press-release.
