David City Elementary PTO and St Mary’s Spirit Club will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event on Friday, Oct. 25.
The event will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and is a fantastic opportunity for kids and adults of both schools to come together for a community-wide event.
Trunks will distribute candy while supplies last. Over the last few years, St. Mary’s has hosted the event and had 20 or more trunks with around 200 kids coming through. This year for the combined event we are planning on around 400 kids. In the past, attendees have received light-up bracelets, popcorn, cupcakes, cookies, bottled water, licorice and other fun things.
The city council has allowed us to use Fifth Street from C to E. There are several ways you can help make this event a success. Most importantly, the street will close at 4:30 p.m.
You have free articles remaining.
To ensure the safety of our participants and volunteers, we ask that any affected businesses plan accordingly to have employees and patrons move their vehicles to a side street by 4 p.m.
Another way that you can help is by having a trunk for your business or as an individual. People who sign up to host a trunk will decorate their trunk and hand out candy or other individually wrapped goodies. This is open to private citizens and businesses alike and is a great opportunity to come see all the neat costumes, hand out candy, or showcase your business or group. Please note that this event is not meant to take away from the Parade Around the Square that the library hosts on Halloween! We would love to have people take part in both events, but if you have to choose one event we’re happy if you continue to support the library! Set up begins at 4:30 p.m. Everyone must be set up by 5:30 p.m. when the event opens for our Trunk or Treaters! The street will reopen to the public at 7:30 p.m.
Finally, if you don’t want to decorate a trunk but would still like to help, there are also donation boxes at both elementary schools for candy donations for the event. Even a bag or two will help us make this event a success!
