Raymond Havlovic, 78, of David City, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday April 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City, with the Rev. Jay Buhman as celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday, with a 10 a.m. rosary service. Visitation and rosary will be at the church prior to Mass. Committal will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. Lunch will be held at the City Auditorium following committal.
Raymond was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Brainard, to Joseph V. and Edith (Rerucha) Havlovic. He attended Brainard Schools and graduated from Brainard High School. On April 30, 1966, he married Orletha Kozisek at St. Francis in Center. They farmed near Brainard, and moved to David City in 1959. Raymond worked for David City Coop for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Brainard American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Raymond loved serving his church and people. He would call Bingo and could often be found working around the church. Orletha said his hobby was work.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Orletha of David City; two sons: Michael (Jana) Havlovic of Sioux Falls, Tim (Carole Stratmann) Havlovic of West Point; three sisters: Catherine (Chuck) Lavicky of Dwight, Marie (Larry) Mielak of Columbus, and Sister Ernestine of Omaha; seven brothers: James (Elaine) of Stacyville, Iowa, Martin of Wisconsin, Bernard (Maureen) of Minnesota, Edwin of New Jersey, George (Mary) of El Paso, Texas, Leonard (Joann) of Kansas, and Brother Edward of Wisconsin. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Ashley Skidmore and Elijah Havlovic, and three great-grandchildren: Aurora, Valentine and Elodie Skidmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sara Havlovic; and three brothers: Ernest, Joseph and Jerome.
