Kenesaw, Nebraska resident Rebecca “Becky” S. Overturf, 63, passed away, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:30 Wednesday, Dec. 20 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, with Father Adam Sughroue officiating.Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The family request casual attire for the service. Burial will be in the Chapel Grove Cemetery, Sutton. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family. A memorial will be established at a later date.
Becky was born December 22, 1953 to John and Florence (Coufal) Bartunek in Seward. She graduated from St. Cecilia’s Catholic Schools in 1972. She married Myron L. Overturf on December 5, 1979 in Hastings. She worked as a brazier at Thermo King in Hastings for 27 years.
She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings. Becky enjoyed garage sales and gardening.
She is survived by her husband Myron “Woody” of Kenesaw, one son Jason (Jessica) Held of Pensicola, Fla., three grandchildren, Sean, Brandon and Kacie, her mother and step-father Florence (Gilbert) Kobza of Seward, two sisters, Carmie (Roy) Kimminau and Sandy (Terry) Krueger all of Hastings, three brothers Roger (Liz) Bartunek and John (Deb) Bartunek of Hastings and Chris (Amanda) Bartunek of Portland, Ore., one brother in law George (Joyce) Overturf of Edgar and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father John Bartunek and parent in laws Melvin and Olinda Overturf.
