Aquinas and East Butler cross country teams ran at the Fremont Bergan Invite on Sept. 12 and continued a run of early success for runners on both teams.
The Aquinas boys topped the team standings after Payton Davis won the race with a time of 20 minutes, 17 seconds. Peter Sisco and Will Eller gave the Monarchs three in the top four when Sisco came in at 21:16 for third while Eller was fourth at 21:34.
Xavier Fiala was seventh in 22:47. Jake Witter took eighth at 22:40. Davis now has three top-10 finishes following his win at East Butler to begin the year then 10th place at Seward on Sept. 5.
Colby Jelinek led East Butler to a sixth place team finish by placing 12th with a 22:52.
Michael Polivka ran well enough for 25th with a 24:10, Justin Dvorak ran a 24:45 for 27th place and Justin Sousek finished in 34th with a 26:02.
In the girls race, Aquinas' three runners included Jocelyn Stara leading the way in third after running 26:13.
Ella Moravec finished in 15th with a time of 29:19 and Meghan Burwell ran a 31:56 for 24th place.
East Butler placed third as a team and was led by Amanda Aerts who placed fourth with a 26:15. Aerts won her home meet and won again at Wisner-Pilger before securing this latest top-five result.
Olivia Bohac ran a 28:28 for 10th place, Lanae Aerts ran well enough for 22nd place with a 31:53 and Haley Sebranek placed 25th with a 32:29.
Arlington Invite: David City competed at Arlington on Sept. 12. The girls were lead by Courtlyn Keeling who placed 27th with a 26:45.
Ava Neujahr placed 45th with a 32:03.

The boys were lead by Dalton Krause, who placed 34th with a 21:52.
Clayton Harris finished in 38th with a 22:11, Braxten Small took 45th with a 23:28, Angel Carias placed 50th with a 24:26 and Jacson Valentine ran well enough for 52nd with a 25:25.
The boys placed ninth as a team.
Lakeview Invite: Shelby-Rising City girls golf finished in eighth place at the Lakeview Invite on Sept. 12.
Tori Perry led the Huskies with a 96 and was followed by Alyssa Blohm who carded a 99.
Lilli Hernbloom scored a 115, Elise Fjell tallied a 118 and Josie Gates finished with a 119.
Shelby-Rising City def. Schuyler 233-234: Shelby-Rising City edged out Schuyler by one stroke on Sept. 10 at the Ryan Hill Country Club in Osceola.
Other Husky scores including Alyssa Blohm shooting a 57, Elise Fjell finishing with a 58, Lilli Hernbloom tallying a 66 and Mia Bishong carding a 67.
Josie Gates of the Shelby-Rising City JV shot a 60.
