Eagles knock off No. 6 seed Huskies
Johnson-Brock (5-4) pulled the 24-6 upset over Class D-1 No. 8 Heartland on Thursday in Henderson.
Cole Fossenbarger threw a pair of touchdown passes to Ty Hahn in the first half and ran in a third score.
Hahn snagged two interceptions on defense to go along with five catches for 62 yards. Heartland didn't get its first score until Connor Boehr's 2-yard run late in the third quarter. The Huskies end the season 7-2.
Plainview 46, Diller-Odell 30: Matt Hoffmann rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns, including three straight, as the Pirates (5-4) erased an early 10-0 deficit. John Schlote added 77 rushing yards and two TDs for Plainview. William McLaughlin had 93 rushing yards and a TD for the Griffins (6-3).
Nebraska Lutheran 68, Thayer Central 16: Nebraska Lutheran improved to 8-1 thanks to a dominant rushing attack. Kyle Richert ran for 125 yards and four touchdowns and completed one pass for a 46-yard touchdown to Joao Godoy. Ben Riegsecker added 111 yards rushing and two more scores. The Knights led 60-0 at halftime. Isaiah Keilwitz rushed 42 times for 157 yards and both of Thayer Central's (4-5) touchdowns.
Creighton 72, McCool Junction 0: Derek Wortman rushed for 232 yards and had seven total TDs to lead the D-1 No. 2 Bulldogs (9-0). Wortman was 6-of-8 on two-point conversions to score 60 of his team's 72 points. Creighton piled up 339 rushing yards as a team and held the Mustangs (2-7) to 55 yards of total offensive, including minus-5 yards passing.
Lourdes CC 48, Neligh-Oakdale 20: Led by James Mason and Thomas Ragland, the Knights (6-3) closed out the Warriors. Mason rushed for 200 yards while Ragland chipped in 149 passing yards. A 5-yard TD pass from Ragland to Mason gave Lourdes a 24-16 halftime lead and Mason broke the game open with a 61-yard TD run in the second half to put the Knights in control.
Bloomfield 76, Exeter-Milligan 6: The Class D-2 No. 5 Bees (9-0) returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to roll past the Timberwolves. Quinten Moles averaged 25 yards per carry, rushing for 352 yards and eight touchdowns.
Friend 52, Allen 12: The Bulldogs (8-1) put together six touchdowns on the ground between Kolby Houlden and Edwen Baptista. Houlden led Friend with 21 carries for 135 yards and three scores with Baptista adding three touchdowns on 27 carries and 123 yards.
BDS 60, Pawnee City 16: The Class D-2 No. 1 Eagles remained undefeated behind a 32-point first quarter. Thomas Mick ran for two scores, returned a kickoff for a touchdown and caught a 31-yard touchdown pass. Andrew Davis caught two touchdown passes from TJ Mawhiney for the Indians.
Pender 52, Guardian Angels CC 50: The Pendragons got the last laugh when it mattered after knocking off Class D-1 No. 3 Guardian Angels CC 52-50 in the final minutes of the game. GACC won the first time around against Pender 64-50 seven days ago to end the regular season. GACC ends the season 8-1.
Randolph 20, Meridian 16: The Cardinals (7-2) scored 20 unanswered points over the second and third quarters to erase an early Mustangs' lead. Randolph mustered just 108 yards of total offense, but forced three Meridian turnovers. Carter Schnoor completed just two passes, but both were touchdowns to Keaton Backhaus. Tybor Smith rushed for 119 yards and two TDs to lead the Meridian (5-4).
