Aquinas Catholic junior Payton Davis kept his run of top-10 finishes alive in North Bend and every Monarch boy earned a medal in a third-place Monarch boys finish at Central City on Sept. 26.
Davis won at East Butler and Seward before a 10th-place finish among a field that included Class A and Class B runners at Fremont Bergan, won at Scotus and now has four individual golds on the season after finishing well ahead of the runner-up from Wahoo last week.
He was 27 seconds ahead with a time of 17 minutes, 7.90 seconds. Not far behind him were teammates Peter Sisco at 17:49.11, Xavier Fiala with a mark of 18:51.94 and Jake Witter coming in at 18:57.94, Will Eller at 19:28.98 and Terrance Wachal at 19:34.86.
Following Davis on top was Sisco in third, Fiala in 18th, Witter in 20th, Eller in 29th and Wachal in 30th.
Race results were separated into large and small school competitors. Though those results were not available for individual runners, team results included the Aquinas boys on top with the team title.
Two Monarch girls were both in action. Jocelyn Stara was 11th in 22:48.53 while Ella Moravec was 34th in 24:55.15. Once those results were adjusted, they both also won medals.
“This was a flat speed course and our runners proved they had a some 'scoot,' coach John Svec said in emailed comments. "The Monarch harriers ran well today, especially Peter Sisco with a very nice time”
