David City ended the Central City tournament on a sour note on Sunday, losing to PWG 10-9 on a walk-off single.
John Prochaska pitched the entire game, giving up 10 runs on eight hits walking six batters and striking out four.
He also scored two runs and recorded two hits.
In the top of the first, Prochaska doubled to start the game before two ground outs and a strikeout left him stranded.
All it took was one walk and one single for PWG to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning.
David City suffered through three straight strikeouts in its second at bat.
After forcing a ground out in the bottom of the frame, David City hit a batter with a pitch, walked the following batter, gave up a single, walked the next batter and conceded back-to-back singles before recording the final two outs, giving PWG a 4-0 lead.
David City hit a leadoff single to start the third. Following a strikeout, Prochaska singled and was replaced by courtesy runner Jordan Kracl. Keegan Lavicky then reached first on an error and Dylan Vodicka hit a sacrifice fly to close the gap to 4-3.
PWG advanced two runners on walks but didn't score in the bottom of the third.
Three straight fly outs ended the top of the fourth for David City, but PWG also went three up and three down.
Jordan Kracl was walked in the fifth, but three quick outs stranded him on base. Another 1-2-3 inning for PWG kept the game close.
Vodicka was the leadoff batter for David City in the sixth and was hit by a pitch. Will Eller then singled and Ben Lyons also reached first.
Two outs later, Lyons singled, as did Prohaska. Kracl then doubled. It all added up to David City scoring five runs and taking an 8-4 lead.
In the bottom, PWG's leadoff batter was hit by a pitch. The following batter singled and then PWG reached on an error. Another walk and another player reaching first led to PWG closing the gap to 8-6.
In the top of the seventh, Lyons hit a two-out single and Keyan Helgoth doubled extending the lead to 9-6.
With three outs to work with, PWG started the game-deciding rally with a one-out double followed by an error.
David City forced a ground out bringing the victory one out a way in the following at-bat.
PWG then got another player on first when a walk led to the walk-off single.
Sunday, DAVID CITY 8, YORK 7: Jordan Kracl was the hero in the first game of the day during the Central City Tournament hitting an inside the park, walk-off home run.
Lyons was the starting pitcher for David City.
In the top of the first, York was able to record one hit and reached first on a walk but was held off the scoreboard.
In the bottom, after a Kracl walk, Lavicky hit a one-out single. Eller then got on base. Lyons and Helgoth also got on base.
By the end of the first David City had a 3-0 lead.
York doubled in the top of the second but was once again held scoreless.
Kracl singled in the bottom but David City was kept off the scoreboard.
PWG had no luck in the third going three up and three down.
Lyons and Helgoth singled in the bottom but David City stranded them on base.
In the top of the fourth, the first two York players were hit by pitches and the next was walked. The following batter got on first before two strikeouts stopped the York attack.
Alex Lyons doubled in the bottom but he was left stranded as the David City bats stayed cold.
York flew out and hit into two ground balls to end the top of the fifth.
In the bottom, Eller and Ben Lyons hit back-to-back one-out singles and Helgoth and Krae Lavicky both reached first.
Prochaska also reached first and was followed by a Kracl single.
After five David City led 7-0.
York scored seven runs in the sixth with a walk, a hit batter, back-to-back singles, another walk, a single, another player getting to first, a walk, and two more players reaching first.
Ben Lyons singled in the sixth but he was left on base.
With the game tied, York went three up and three down in the seventh before Kracl hit his walk-off inside the park home run.
SATURDAY, CENTRAL CITY 4, DAVID CITY 3: After falling behind 4-0, David City attempted to make a rally scoring three in the sixth, but fell just short.
Keegan Lavicky pitched all six innings for David City allowing four runs on seven hits striking out five batters and walking four.
Dylan Vodicka led the team in hits with two and also recorded two RBIS.
David City started out the game with three consecutive fly outs.
Central City saw two batters walked in the bottom but couldn't score.
It was more of the same in the top of the second as David City went three up and three down.
A leadoff single led to Central City taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom.
Krae Lavicky, Andy Lyons and Prohaska were all walked in the third but all three were stranded.
David City gave up one hit in the bottom but kept the opponent off the board.
Another 1-2-3- inning kept David City scoreless in the fourth.
Central City used a single, hit batter, fielder's choice and another single to take a 3-0 lead.
David City once against suffered another 1-2-3 inning in the fifth.
Central City added its fourth and final run in the fifth thanks to a leadoff walk.
After two walks, Vodicka hit a one-out single to spark David City's offense. Ben Lyons followed with a two-out single while Helgoth hand Krae Lavicky were walked to close the gap to 4-3.
Neither team scored the rest of the game.
JUNE 26, DAVID CITY 12, CENTRAL CITY2 3
After defeating Malcolm, David City went on to defeat Central City2 via mercy rule after five innings.
Ethan Zegers was the starting pitcher for David City.
After Kracl was walked to start the top of the first, Keegan Lavicky, Kolby Baer, Ben Lyons and Will Eller all singled giving David City a 4-0 lead to start the game.
Central City also got off to a hot start hitting a leadoff single and having one batter walked and a two-out single to close the gap to 4-2.
Prochaska reached on an error by the third baseman and stole second and third.
Kracl was walked before stealing second and scoring later on a passed ball.
Baer was walked and Ben Lyons singled, extending the lead to 6-2.
One single and a David City error narrowed the lead to 6-3 after two. Krae Lavicky and Kracl both singled in the third giving David City a 10-3 lead.
Central City was unable to score the rest of the game and David City added two more in the fifth off of singles by Kolby Baer and Ben Lyons.
The next game for David City is at Tri County at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
