The David City juniors overcame an early deficit to score the final six runs of the game in a 6-2 victory against Malcolm on June 25.
Kyle Napier pitcher three scoreless innings and went 2 for 4 with two RBIs scoring two runs on the day.
Austin Mastera was David City's starting pitcher. He received the win, tossing three innings, allowing zero hits, two unearned runs and striking out three batters while walking four.
David City surrendered two runs in the first inning off of two walks, a hit batter, two wild pitches and two passed balls.
Offensively, David City struggled to score in the beginning. After going three up and three down to start the game, the team managed only two hits in the second from Jordan Kracl and Jayson Ondracek.
The offense finally got going in the bottom of the third when John Prochaska doubled in a run to cut the score to 2-1.
Prochaska scored in the next at bat when Napier grounded out to tie the game up.
From that point, neither team gave up any runs until the bottom of the fifth when Napier opened the inning on a double.
A pop up and an error allowed him to score and gave David City a 3-2 lead.
Just one inning later, David City used a pair of two-out singles by Napier and Dylan Vodicka along with a hit batter, four stolen bases, an error and a passed ball to take a 6-2 lead before the two-hour time limit brought an end to the game.
