BVFD holding pancake feed
BELLWOOD -- The Bellwood Volunteer Fire Department will hold a pancake, egg and sausage feed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 19 at Bellwood Elementary School, 612 Park St.
The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for kids younger than 5. Tickets are available at the door.
Sasse staffer at mobile office
COLUMBUS -- U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse announced that a member of his staff will be hosting a mobile office from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at Columbus Public Library, 2504 14th St.
Office hours will provide Nebraskans with a face-to-face opportunity to speak with a member of Sasse’s staff about federal government-related issues. A constituent services representative will be on hand to offer guidance and aid to Nebraskans who require help navigating Washington's federal bureaucracy.

Business hosting food drive
COLUMBUS -- Anytime Fitness will host a food drive from Nov. 13-24.
Members and the general public are invited to drop off nonperishable items to the club during this time. The local drive will go to the Platte County Food Pantry.
Columbus residents are also invited to share their own #BurnTheTurkey ideas from Nov. 13-24 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For each original photo or video submitted using the hashtag #BurnTheTurkey, Anytime Fitness will donate one meal to Feeding America to help families in need this holiday season.
Bluegrass show in Albion

Health event at local church
COLUMBUS -- Area residents are invited to attend a Life Line Screening event from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 25th St.
Screenings can check for plaque levels, HDL/LDL cholesterol levels, diabetes risk, bone density and kidney and thyroid function. Packages start at $149 and can be customized based on risk factors and age.

Estate seminar offered at CCH
COLUMBUS -- James and Thomas Fehringer will present an estate planning seminar from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 20 at Columbus Community Hospital in the third-floor conference center.
The seminar will cover the benefits of estate planning and help attendees learn how to get started. The seminar is hosted by the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation. It is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so reservations are required by Nov. 15.
