David City finished runner up in the Sons of the American Legion Baseball Tournament in Silver Creek over the weekend going 2-2 with wins over Twin River and SOS and losses against Valparaiso and DCB.
In the championship game, David City lost 9-7.
Jack Jakub was the starting pitcher.
David City scored two runs in the first off of walks by Andy Lyons, Nolan Hartman and Kyle Napier, Simon Krenk reaching on an error and Jakub taking another free pass.
The team added one more in the second off singles by Lyons and Kyle Napier.
In the fourth Lyons scored after Napier doubled.
David City scored three in the sixth off of doubles by Napier and Dan Stara and a single by Hartman.
SUNDAY, DAVID CITY 19, SOS 1: After losing the previous day, David City came back with a dominant victory.
Joseph Reimers pitched five innings and hit a grand slam during the game.
David City scored nine runs in the first inning off of a double by Krenk, two singles by Lyons, singles also by Reimers, Stara, Krenk and Konner Adamy, two errors and three walks.
David City added four more in the second off a Jakub single, an error, a walk and a Reimers grand slam.
In the fifth, David City scored six more runs when Hartman, Adamy, Lyons and Krenk all singled, SOS committed two errors and walked two batters.
SATURDAY, VALPARAISO 12, DAVID CITY 7: After a win in the opening game, David City lost to Valparaiso in a rematch of game played nine days earlier.
Lyons went 4 for 5 with three stolen bases, Napier went 2 for 5, Krenk went 2 for 5, Jakub went 1 for 4, Adamy went 2 for 4 and Rerucha went 3 for 3 with a double and two base hits.
David City scored one in the first off of singles by Lyons, Napier and Krenk and a sacrifice by Stara.
In the fourth, David City added four more when Adamy led off with a single, Rerucha doubled, Lyons singled and Reimers doubled.
Rerucha singled again in the fifth which along with singles by Napier and Reimers adding another run.
David City added a final run in the seventh off of singles by Krenk and Rerucha.
Reimers, Hartman and Krenk all pitched during the game.
FRIDAY, DAVID CITY 10, TWIN RIVER 2: David City won the opening game of the tournament in a game in which Jakub, Lyons and Stara all pitched.
Lyons went 3 for 4 with two stolen bases, Hartman went 1 for 2, Napier went 3 for 3 with two stolen bases, Stara went 1 for 2 with a double and Adamy went 1 for 3.
After scoring two runs in the first, David City scored four in the fourth and four in the sixth.
The pitching staff sat Twin River down in the order the first two innings before conceding runs in the third and fifth inning.
The next game for David City is July 9 at home against UBC at 8 p.m.
