Schuyler athletes won 13 combined medals between the boys and girls squads on April 9 at the Knights of Columbus Invite in Columbus hosted by Scotus Central Catholic.

The boys won seven total medals highlighted by a win from Cristobal Gonzalez in the 3200 meters. The girls collected six pieces of hardware with the highlight a victory in the discus from Rachel Shonka.

Gonzalez and Shonka were both double medal winners with Gonzalez also scoring a sixth-place finish in the 1600 and Shonka tossing a shot-put best good enough for fourth.

Medals were also awarded to Robert Fuentes with a fourth-place showing in the pole vault, Emmanuel Rocha taking sixth in the discus, Felix Cruz finishing sixth in the 200, the 1600 relay taking fifth and the 400 relay finishing fifth.

The 1600 relay team consisted of Kenny Castro, Nur Abdirahman, Fuentes and Cruz. The 400 relay was made up of Cruz, Carlos Alarcon, Jaime Lira and Alec Parry.

Other girls medals were won by Anna Rocheford taking fifth in the triple jump, the 3200 relay taking fourth, 400 relay finishing also fourth and the 1600 relay taking sixth.

The 3200 relay team was made up of Edith Oliden, Marisol Deanda, Leslie Adame and Mia Wallingford. The 1600 rely included members Wolken, Wallingford, Adame and Jaki Mejia. The 400 relay had Mejia, Rocheford, Kinzie Peterson and Carla Chacon.
