It's been a big week for the Henry Doorly Zoo, with a new bull elephant and now a baby gorilla.
The female western lowland gorilla made her debut in the Omaha zoo nursery Friday, wearing human diapers. She was born May 5 and is being cared for by animal care staff and in close proximity to her mother, Bambio, and the other western lowland gorillas.

Omaha zoo babies
A giraffe calf was born at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo on Nov. 28, 2017. It was the first calf born to mother Layla. The father is Sam.
Coco the sea lion gave birth to a pup on June 17, 2017.
A western lowland gorilla was born at the Omaha zoo on Jan. 18, 2017. The new gorilla is a male, and his parents are 21-year-old Timu and 22-year-old Tambo. The mother, Timu, came to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium from the Cincinnati Zoo in 1996. This is her fourth baby. The father, Tambo, arrived in 2001 from the Bronx Zoo, and this is his first offspring.
White-Handed Gibbon baby with mom
A white-handed gibbon was born at the Omaha Zoo on Oct. 15, 2016.
A Southern three-banded armadillo pup born Feb. 18, 2016 at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
Pygmy hippo calf
Mabel, a pygmy hippopotamus calf born Oct. 1, 2015.
A giraffe calf was born April 30, 2017.
Surf and Saki
Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium welcomed two baby sea lions in June 2015. Now the pups officially have names. The male is Surf, the female is Saki.

The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium welcomed a baby giraffe in 2014.
Ahadi, a lioness at the Henry Doorly Zoo, gave birth to three lion cubs in November 2014. One of the cubs is white, which is rare in lions.
Spotted-Neck Otter Pup
A spotted-neck otter pup was on display at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha in December 2014.
The aardvark calf was born Oct. 1 2014 and just recently went on display in the Namib Desert section of Desert Dome at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.

Red ruffled lemurs
Two Red ruffled lemurs were born in March 2018 at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
Silas the pygmy hippo was born April 30, 2018, to mother Chomel of Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo and father Scooby from Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas, who has been at the Omaha zoo since 1991. He is the first pygmy hippo calf at the Lied Jungle since 2015, and is now in his habitat there.
This four-month-old King penguin chick entered its habitat in the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium on June 28, 2018.
Malayan tapir calf
A female Malayan tapir calf named Sariah was born on Aug. 31, 2018, at Henry Doorly Zoo and introduced to its habitat in the Lied Jungle in November.
Gentoo penguin chicks
Four gentoo penguin chicks were unveiled to the public in late February 2019. The chicks were born in December and were raised by their parents until they were about 1 month old; then they were moved to a behind-the-scenes area to learn how to hand-feed from keepers. The chicks range in weight from 14 to 16 pounds and will be introduced to other birds.
The Omaha zoo has 37 gentoo penguins and the four chicks. They are listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.
Gentoo chicks were born in December 2018 at Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.
