A grand jury in Nebraska has indicted three people for conspiring to commit marriage fraud for an alleged sham marriage between an Omaha man and a woman from Tajikistan.

Faisal Garba-Adenkunjo, Farangis Gafarova and Jeremiah Logan are set to make their first court appearances Thursday in U.S. District Court in Omaha on the conspiracy charge.

Gafarova and Logan also are charged with marriage fraud.

In court records unsealed Friday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lecia Wright said Garba-Adenkunjo, a lawful permanent resident, spoke with Logan sometime in 2014 about getting married to Gafarova, so she could get a green card and stay in the U.S. once her student visa expired.

Wright said Logan agreed to do it for $5,000 but ultimately was paid $2,800.

The two married on Jan. 10, 2015, at the Douglas County Courthouse.
