COLUMBUS — Dancers from across the area showed off their moves Sunday during Jam the Gym.
The 17th annual event at Columbus High School featured high school and college performers sharing the spotlight.
Hosted by the CHS Diamond Dancers, the afternoon was set to a safari theme. More than 40 routines were scheduled, but some teams had to cancel their appearances because of the approaching winter storm.
The event started in 2001 as a fundraiser for the Diamond Dancers and has since grown to be a yearly showcase of local and area talent.
In addition to the dancers, other performers scheduled to take part in Jam the Gym included the CHS winter guard, drumline and cheerleaders. A special dance by elementary students, known as the Little Gems, kicked off the show. The Diamond Dancers worked with those youths on Saturday to choreograph the opening routine.
