Right to Life lunch on Tuesday

HUMPHREY -- The Humphrey Right to Life will hold a salad luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Humphrey St. Francis Parish Hall.

Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for kids ages 5-10, and free for children ages 4 and under.

All proceeds will go to the Humphrey Area Right to Life.

Holy Eucharist retreat planned

SCHUYLER -- Contemplating the Holy Eucharist, a weekend retreat scheduled for June 12-14, will be held at St. Benedict Center with Prior Fr. Mauritius Wilde, OSB, Ph.D.

The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. How can Christians join the Mass with a “listening heart?” How can they approach the Eucharist in a contemplative manner as the monks try to do it: pondering, meditating, in silent reverence?

Little Flower to hold service

COLUMBUS -- Court Little Flower #988 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will sponsor a 24-hour prayer service June 12, beginning with Mass at 8:10 a.m. and ending June 13 with the 8:10 a.m. Mass, at St. Isidore Catholic Church.

The 24-hour prayer service is for an end to terrorism, abortion, pornography and sex trafficking. Everyone is invited to come whenever they can and pray for as long as they want to.

Summer festival slated for Prague

PRAGUE -- The summer festival for the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church of Plasi will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 14 at the Prague Parish Hall.

The meal will be a self-serve roast beef buffet. Cost for the meal is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 5-10 years, and free for kids under 5.

The event also will include a cake walk, bake sale, silent auction and $1,000 raffle. A beginner’s live auction will be held at noon, and a last chance live auction will be at 2:30 p.m.

One-day retreat slated June 27

SCHUYLER -- St. Benedict Center will offer a one-day retreat “Contemplative Awareness: A Spiritual Quest” from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 27, with Sister Kathleen Courtney, OSB, and Sister Ann Marie Petrylka, OSM.

Living in the midst of busyness and chaos can overwhelm, discourage and paralyze the best of people. Take time out to feast on God’s passionate and unconditional love in an atmosphere of prayer.

The retreat will include a presentation, reflection, discussion, handouts and an art experience (optional).

Exercises retreat at St. Benedict

SCHUYLER -- The Rev. Larry Gillick, SJ, will present a retreat “The Spiritual Exercises for Non-Jesuits” July 16–19 at St. Benedict Center, four miles north of Schuyler.

Those attending will spend days of silence and prayer reflecting on the apparent spiritual and religious hypocrisy of their lives. Conferences, based on Scripture and the text of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius will be offered, followed by abundant time for prayer and reflection.

The retreat begins at 6 p.m. July 16 and ends July 19 after lunch. The program fee is $80; room and board are additional.
