A 31-year-old Columbus man is dead as a result of a one-vehicle accident happening approximately 5-miles west of North Bend, according to released information from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
Jacob W. Schamp, released information shows, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by law enforcement.
At 12:38 a.m. Friday, Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 30 near County Road 2.
An investigation determined that a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Schamp was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 when the SUV went off the right (south) side of the highway and rolled, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Schamp was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and speed is being considered a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the North Bend Fire and Rescue Department.
