A Monroe man accused of being involved with the theft of military grave markers from a cemetery in rural Platte Center was arrested last week on a Platte County Warrant, released information from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office says.
Brian Blattner, 38, was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 11:25 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 39636 325th St. in rural Monroe.
The Sheriff’s Office had previously received information pertaining to possible stolen items. An investigation into the items revealed the property had been previously stolen from the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
As a result of the search warrant, the Sheriff’s Office allegedly located items pertaining to the thefts from the cemetery, in addition to other thefts. The search warrant also resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia inside the home.
Blattner was subsequently transported to Platte County Jail. This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
