Sheriff's Report

Arrests made over holiday 

On Monday, Amy Caskey of Norfolk was stopped while driving down Highway 81 in Columbus by a deputy with the Platte County Sheriff's Office. She was subsequently arrested on an active Madison County warrant, according to Sheriff Ed Wemhoff.

Caskey has since posted bail, according to Officer Zach Ridgeway of the Platte County Detention Facility. Her court day has been set for 9 a.m. today.

Also Monday, Steven Novotny of Clarkson was arrested by the Sheriff's Office on a Butler County warrant, according to Wemhoff. He was taken into police custody by a deputy at the Skeeter Barnes restaurant in Columbus, where he was also charged with being in possession of Meth. His bail bond has been set at $500 for the Butler County warrant. No court day has been set, according to Ridgeway.

On Tuesday, Brain Lovitt of Columbus was arrested by a deputy at a Columbus residence. He was wanted on a Platte County warrant for failure to pay a $183.50 fine. According to Ridgeway, Lovitt has since paid the fine and been released from police custody.
