Chicken dinner set for Holy Trinity

BRAINARD — Holy Trinity Parish is holding its annual chicken dinner from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at Klein Center.

Mass at the newly restored church will be at 10 a.m. Cost for the meal is $7 adult, $4.50 for children 12 and under and take-out is $7.50.

There also will be  a craft and bake sale, adult and kid games, and a raffle. For more information, call Donna at (402) 545-3383.

New Wednesday service at Hope

COLUMBUS — Worship On Wednesdays, a new service at Hope Lutheran Church, 3316 27th St., begins Wednesday.

The worship-praise-communion service will begin at 6 p.m. The service will be followed by food, education and activities.

Salad luncheon at Methodist church

COLUMBUS — The Columbus United Methodist Mission Committee Salad Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of the church, 2710 14th St. 

The cost of the luncheon is $6. The proceeds will be used for Mission Projects including support for Steve Eldred, a missionary in Alaska, Health Kits for Haiti, Flood Buckets for affected areas, the Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Food Pantry, Christmas Spirit Co-op and Volunteer In Mission Teams to Jamaica and Haiti.

Garage, bake sale at Federated Church

COLUMBUS — The Federated Church Women’s Fellowship will hold a fundraiser garage and bake sale from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the church, 2704 15th St.

There will be five rooms of toys, games, clothing, furniture and household items. The sale also will include homemade baked goods and special pricing after 3 p.m.

Enneagram workshop planned

SCHUYLER — An Enneagram Spirituality Workshop, directed by Sister Suzanne Zuercher, OSB, will take place Aug. 20-22 at St. Benedict Center.

Single Christians retreat at Hordville

HORDVILLE — The 26th annual Summer’s End Retreat for Nebraska’s rural single Christians will be held Aug. 27-29 at Covenant Cedars near Hordville.

This event, titled “Guard Rails-Finding God’s Will,” is sponsored by an interdenominational committee of Christians from across the state. The weekend will be filled with recreation, games, food, singing, swimming, free time and a chance to network with other singles from across the state. The retreat is open to singles ages 23 and over who want to meet and fellowship with other single Christians.

Charismatic conference set

COLUMBUS — A Labor Day weekend Catholic Charismatic Conference will be held from 6 p.m. Sept. 3-4, at the New World Inn, 265 33rd Ave.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Speaker will be Jim “Butch” Murphy, (the man who walked across America in prayer), and Catholic Missionary Evangelist and president of “Vera Cruz Communications.”  Early registration is $15 if paid by Aug. 25 and $25 at the door. Fee includes both days of the conference, breakfast and lunch Saturday. A free-will offering will be collected to help pay for conference expenses.  A Healing Mass with praise and worship music will be celebrated at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 4 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Shelby church golf tourney scheduled

SHELBY — Sacred Heart Church in Shelby will sponsor a four-person scramble golf tournament Sunday, Sept. 12.
