Happy holidays from the Nebraska Extension — Platte County staff. We are happy to report our office has successfully moved from the basement of the courthouse to our new building at 2715 13th St.

For the first time in the history of Extension in Platte County, we are celebrating the following visibility and accessibility upgrades to our clientele through:

• Signage: the first time our office has had a sign advertising our existence and location as the front door to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln right here in Columbus.

• Curbside parking: the ability to park and walk directly into our office, enabling all clientele the ease of reaching our services.

• Dedicated meeting space: clientele will be able to learn in an updated space with new technology used only for Extension programming. 4-H clubs will be able to meet at our new location at night and on weekends.

Our staff would like to thank the Platte County Board of Supervisors for their support in finishing the project and meeting the needs of our programs and clientele through the process. We successfully worked with a tight time frame from a Sept. 19 board decision to a Dec. 11 move date with the help of other county departments, particularly the IT and maintenance departments, playing crucial roles in helping us meet our deadline.

We invite everyone to an open house at our office on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 3-6 p.m. This will be a great time to see our new location and learn about our programs. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet our new staff members who will be joining our staff starting in January.
