LINCOLN — The seventh annual Husker Fans Salute the Troops event will be held Oct. 18 to recognize members of the U.S. military.
The mission of Husker Fans Salute the Troops event is to honor Nebraska’s soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, whether they are active duty, National Guard, Reserve or veterans.
In recent years, special attention has been given to military members who were injured while serving, transporting them in to attend the weekend event. This year, the group will come together in Lincoln on Oct. 18.
The Husker Fans Salute the Troops event includes a private tour of Nebraska’s athletic facilities, Memorial Stadium tour with a tunnel walk, game watch party with food and drinks, free night’s stay at the Cornhusker Hotel, Sunday brunch with guest speaker former Husker football player Jeff Makovicka, door prizes and discounts for Husker merchandise at local retailers.
First-time registrants pay a $25 non-refundable fee to hold their reservation and repeat registrants will have to pay a $50 non-refundable fee.

“The military is very important to this country. They’re part of our freedom,” said Kim Wolfe, owner of Midwest Medical Transport and Husker Helicopter. “I was a Marine so I know what they go through.”
