It seems as though we have been given a little shove into winter with all this snow the past couple of days. With the holidays and obviously winter right around the corner it has left us racing to get our last minute projects done. Understandably we want to get projects finished before we get more snow or the Temperature drops but as always the City of Columbus Building Department would like to remind you to call in for your timely inspections. Missing an inspection step may only cost you more time and delay the process. The snow mixed with higher temperatures can make for a muddy work area. If you are doing projects that require large equipment please make sure you are cleaning up your mud track-out daily. This will help us keep the streets of Columbus looking beautiful.
With snow fall and residents wanting to park off of the street to allow for the snow plow to pass we would like to remind you that it is against City Code to park in a yard unless it is on a hard surface. A Hard surface is defined in our City Ordinance 72.40 B (b) as a paved hard surface driveway, paved pad, or gravel driveway, with dimensions of not less than 10 feet by 20 feet, or if graveled, a gravel depth of not less than three inches.
Friendly note: Don’t forget to drain your sprinkler system and unhook your hose from the faucet. This will help prevent freezing of the pipes which could potentially burst and cause a water leak in your home.
