In an effort to make a difference during Domestic Violence Month in October, Students from Twin Rivers Taekwondo and Columbus Bujutsu collected money that will benefit local entities that make a difference in regard to addressing domestic problems.
In total, $6,122 was raised, according to released information. Pinnacle and Homestead banks locations in Schuyler contributed to the cause.
Students from the martial arts studios were also asked to collect pledges from businesses, families and friends to support the Center for Survivors, Columbus Police Department, Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol, according to released information.
These pledges would then be used by these agencies to help support children and families who are in difficult situations. The instructors and students came together recently and broke their boards during the event, which also served as the groups’ “Back the Blue” event in support of area law enforcement.
