Alice Hulda Margaretha Steckel, 90, of Fullerton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Wolf Memorial in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton with The Rev. Jim Gruber officiating. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.
Alice was born June 8, 1929 to Carl and Katharina (Thoeming) Koch near Concord, Dixon County, Nebraska. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Concord on June 30, 1929. On June 28, 1942, she was confirmed. She attended country school at District 71 near Concord and graduated from Allen Consolidated High School in May 1946. She then attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. She taught school for 10 years in Dixon County, Highland Park in Columbus, and Belgrade Schools for one year. She also worked at Beverly Healthcare for 26 years.

She married Albert Francis Jr. on May 24, 1957, in Columbus and, to this union, four children were born: Arlen Edward, Annette Elaine, Amy Elizabeth, and Arden Evans. Albert passed away on Jan. 14, 1978. On April 9, 1988, she married Richard Steckel at Peace Lutheran Church near Belgrade.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, where she was a local and zone officer. She was an organist for over 50 years at both church. She was also a member of Cedar Valley Extension Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Litzenberg Long Term Care and Grand Island Veterans Hospital and Veterans Home.
She is survived by her children, Arlen (Tami) Francis of Shelby, Annette (Rod) Serres of Bigfork, Montana, Amy (Patrick) Zaruba of Albion, and Arden (Jeanne Marie Buck) Francis of Berthoud, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; stepson, Robert (Theresa) Steckel of Edmund, Oklahoma; and brother, Leroy (Delores) Koch of Concord.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Francis Jr. and Richard Steckel; and her parents.
