Carol J. Vollbracht, 95, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Gass Haney Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Yang officiating. Interment will be in Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct.14, and will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested as those of the family choice.
Carol Jeanne Vollbracht was born on July 18, 1924, to Mart W. and Faye B. (Wright) Seckman in Clayton, Illinois. She attended school in Clayton and graduated from Clayton High School in 1942. Carol was united in marriage to Everett Hugh Vollbracht on April 9, 1944, in Quincy, Illinois. She worked as a typesetter for the Clayton Enterprises newspaper. The family moved to Columbus in 1960. Along with raising her three boys, Carol helped Everett in his work. She was the bookkeeper for Vollbracht's Inc. from 1977 until retiring in 2013.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially in outdoor activities like boating, camping, and snow mobiling. She also enjoyed reading, hosting Sunday dinners, baking, cooking, watching Animal Planet, and her beloved pets - Gidget, Max, and Maxine. Carol was a charter member of Federated Church.
Carol is survived by son, Dave (Penny) Vollbracht of Payson, Arizona; son, Mark (Lynn) Vollbracht of Columbus; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by parents, Mart and Faye Seckman; husband, Everett Vollbracht; son, Dennis (Nancy) Vollbracht; brother, Mart Seckman Jr.; brother, Kenneth Seckman.
